Community Connection - 8.20.23
Hi Zilker Community! As we closed the first week of school, I couldn't be more proud of our community, kids, families and especially the STAFF!! We had some minor bumps this week, but as a team we came together and still provided a great experience for our students. Thank you for your support and love of our school - we are for sure "A Great Place for Kids" because of all of you! Check out this week's newsletter.

Date Reminder: Winter Parties: December 21- Information and RSVP with each teacher Winter Holiday: December 22-January 9. Students return on January 10! The Season of Giving virtual "Wish Lists" are here! This is a place where you can help a Zilker family during the holiday season by choosing gifts or gift cards to donate to a Zilker family.

As we close this school year, I want to take a moment to THANK YOU all for an incredible year. Through all the change and uncertainty that this year brought, the one thing that stayed was the heart and commitment of our Zilker Community!

Last week our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Russell and Teacher of Promise, Ms. Baez represented Zilker Elementary at the Austin ISD Salutes Celebration. They were recognized for their achievements this school year.

We had a great College Week at Zilker last week where we learned all about what our teachers did after high school. We learned that over 25 of our teachers went to college in Texas, two teachers went to universities in other countries, one teacher joined the Air Force, and many other fun facts! We also had fun getting to see what our teachers looked like when they were in college.

Be sure to show appreciation to our entire staff this week for all the hard work they have done through the year! Whether it's through kind words in an email, a small gift of appreciation, or some flowers - take time this week to shower our staff with reminders of the impact they make each day for our students!!
